Owners of computers with multicore processors can speed up Windows OS boot time (applicable on all Windows versions: Windows 7, Vista, XP), as follows:
1. Click on Start orb
2. In the “Search Programs and Files” field enter “msconfig”
3. Click the Boot Tab
4. Select the operating system (skip this if you have only one OS installed)
5. Click on “Advanced Options”
6. Set the “Number of processors” value to the largest possible number
Restart the computer. The Windows OS boot time should be significantly shorter.
