Windows 7 File Explorer Tip

The Windows 7 File Explorer in its behavior does not follow its predecessor from Windows XP. It will no longer display system folders like Control Panel or Recycle Bin. If you’re going to open a complicated folder tree in the right-hand pane of File Explorer, the left-hand tree won’t always expand to follow what you’re doing, which can make it more difficult to see exactly where you are.

In a few steps you can apply a quick tip to improve Windows 7 File Explorer behavior:

1. Launch Windows 7 File Explorer
2. Click on Tools, then click on Folder Options
3. Enable (check) “Show all folders” and “Automatically expand to current folder”
4. Click OK.
